Even the most effective employment policies can fail if they are implemented incorrectly. Lipman & Plesur, LLP conducts training sessions to help sensitize supervisors to EEO issues and train supervisors on effective communication and documentation. Compliance with New York Mandatory Sexual Harassment Prevention Training Requirements

New York State’s law requiring sexual harassment prevention training is effective October 9, 2018.  We can help you comply with the new law, which will require sexual harassment prevention policies, including written complaint forms, as well as harassment prevention training.

The Stop Sexual Harassment in NYC Act also requires annual training for all employees starting April 1, 2019 as well as posting compliant notices.

The key to effective sexual harassment prevention training is to get employees to think before they act.   Our philosophy is that merely trying to get employees to spit back “right” answers is not productive.  There is much to be learned from exploring “wrong” answers.  We also believe that it is important to avoid online training where wrong answers or scores are recorded – and discoverable – in a database.   Further, sexual harassment prevention training must be engaging but  should never be turned into a joke which is can be further evidence of a sexually hostile work environment.
